Leading me to my final point, if Sim 5 doesn't knock my socks off, I'm going to stick to talking to the Social Bunny in my Pleasantview Mansion. In this game you play as a teenage islander Yati. In playing the Sims 2 it was game that gave me both the framework to play (stories, activities, general natural laws) and my own ability to create. The Island - Castaway 2 is a RPG game, featuring original characters, intriguing storyline to follow and lots of activities like hunting, fishing, farming, handicraft, trade, and even sorcery. The game was not released for Windows, but an equivalent version called The Sims Castaway Stories was released on January 29, 2008.
It was released in the United States on Octoand Octoin Europe for the Nintendo DS, Wii, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable. Looking at the jumps between the games - the Sims to Sims 2 was enormous, Sims 2 to Sims 3 was less drastic but kept up with the growing player base, and Sims 3 to Sims 4 was just laughable. The Sims 2: Castaway is the third console spin-off of the video game The Sims 2. But in coming upon an old copy, I realized how sad this is! Dare I say Sims 2 is the best in the series! The attention to detail, the engaging story lines, and ridiculous early 2000s nostalgia all set it apart from Sims 3.

The Sims 2 is still under copyright protections in the same way that Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 (the 2001 Playstation version) is still protected. The legal status of abandonware is not well defined as the property can still be sold through resellers - like buying used copies or through a secondhand company. Thus, it is now considered 'abandonware'.
The Sims 2 came out in 2004 and EA stopped selling physical copies in 2014, Origin stopping the sale of online copies in 2018.
